Liner Installation & Pond Construction

1. What type of liner does Let’s Wet Texas use?
We use LLDPE (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene) geomembrane liners that are factory-sealed for maximum durability, flexibility, and long-term water retention. LLDPE is also fish-safe and non-toxic, making it ideal for ponds and lakes that support aquatic life.

2. Why do you prefer factory-sealed liners instead of field-welded seams?
Factory-sealed liners are produced under controlled, clean manufacturing conditions, which create stronger and more reliable seams. Field welding on ranch sites can be affected by dust, wind, uneven surfaces, and moisture, increasing the risk of leaks and long-term failures.

3. Why do your ponds need to be at least 10–12 feet deep?
A depth of 10 to 12 feet helps keep water temperatures cooler in the summer, reduces evaporation, and supports healthier fish habitat. Shallow ponds warm up too quickly and lose water much faster during the Texas heat.

4. Is the LLDPE liner safe for fish and aquatic plants?
Yes. LLDPE is non-toxic, does not leach chemicals, and is commonly used in aquaculture. It provides a stable, clean environment for fish, frogs, and other aquatic life.

5. How do you prepare the ground before installing the liner?
We remove rocks, roots, and sharp debris, then level and smooth the subgrade so the liner sits evenly against the soil. This preparation helps prevent punctures and reduces long-term stress on the liner.

6. Do you cover the liner after installation?
Yes. We cover every liner with clay or suitable on-site material to shield it from heavy animal traffic, fallen branches, or accidental punctures. This protective layer also creates a more natural pond floor for fish and wildlife.

7. Can animals damage the liner?
Large animals such as cattle, deer, or hogs can puncture unprotected liners. That’s why we always add a protective layer of soil or clay above the liner—it greatly increases durability and protection from animal impact.

8. How long does an LLDPE liner last?
When properly installed and protected, LLDPE liners have a long service life, often lasting decades. Factory-sealed seams and proper soil cover significantly extend the lifespan.

9. Will the pond look natural with a liner?
Yes. Because we cover the liner with clay or site material, the liner is not visible once installation is complete. The finished pond blends naturally with the surrounding landscape.

10. Can I use my pond for fish stocking?
Absolutely. Our liner systems are fish-safe and designed to support healthy aquatic ecosystems. Many clients stock their ponds with bass, catfish, perch and other species.

11. Do you handle the pond design and excavation too?
Yes. We provide full pond construction services, including design, excavation, grading, depth planning, liner installation and site finishing. Every project is adapted to the land, soil conditions and the owner’s needs.
